Lyrics

One… Two… Three… Four… Five!
Five little ducks went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mommy duck said: "Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But only four little ducks came back.

One… Two… Three…Four…
Ohh NO… one little duck is missing!

Four little ducks went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mommy duck said: "Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But only three little ducks came back.

One… Two… Three…
Ohh Dear. Two baby ducks are missing.

Hmmm
Three little ducks went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mommy duck said: "Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But only two little ducks came back.

One… Two…
Only two baby ducks came back??

Two little ducks went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mommy duck said: "Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But only one little duck came back.

One…??
Hmmm

One little duck went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mommy duck said: "Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But no little ducks came back.

Ohh no… all my baby ducks are missing??

Sad mommy duck went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mommy duck said:
"Quack, quack, quack, quack."
All five little ducks came back.

One… Two… Three… Four… Five! Yeah!

Why Parents and Teachers Love This Song

Early Math Skills: The song naturally introduces the concept of subtraction and counting backward from five to zero in a highly visual, easy-to-understand way.
Language Development: The repetitive phrasing and fun animal sounds ("Quack, quack, quack, quack!") encourage toddlers to vocalize and memorize words.
Motor Skills: It’s a great song for hand gestures! Kids can hold up their fingers to represent the remaining ducks and make a "quacking" motion with their hands.
Emotional Reassurance: It gently introduces the concept of wandering off, but resolves safely and happily with all the baby ducks returning to their mother.

How to use this page:

3. Discuss: Pause the video and ask, "How many ducks are left?" or "Where do you think the little duck went?"
4. Extend the Fun: Download the printable activity at the bottom of the page to reinforce the counting lesson.
